What’s on my nightstand

Starting a new monthly series of what’s on my nighstand with the thought that one’s nightstand is a reflection of what’s going on with someone in that moment. The past month mine has been littered with cough medicine and tissues (queue the mid-summer cold), many cups of hot tea, and books of the moment (see below). But, now that I’m starting to get over my cold, it was time for a refresh.

I kept some go-tos and swapped some books to reach for when I’m ready for a screen-time break. I love getting off my devices to dive into a book, game, or journal. With an almost one year old son, my morning routine isn’t as spacious as it used to be, so my nighttime rituals have become more important. It’s the time in the day where everything is “done”. The dishes are clean, I’ve showered, the baby is asleep, and I can switch my brain to some self care.

  • NEW! – The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley
    • Current fiction book that I’m reading. I bought this at the airport before our UK/Spain trip as I needed something to read during my vacation. A bit naive of me as I was traveling with our son internationally for the first time and didn’t have the usual free time one does before children… duh. Alas, I’m slowly making my way through this time travel novel and really enjoying it.
  • New-ish – The Sun And Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur
    • I bought this book at Powell’s City of Books in Portland, Oregon a few years ago. It’s a bookstore for book lovers. Unique recommendations, rooms filled to the brim, and every genre imaginable. I added this book of poetry by Rupi Kaur to my nightstand a few weeks ago and have loved reading a few poems each night before bed.
  • Rose Quartz and Amazonite Crystals for the month of August. Rose quartz always feels good to me for my heart space and the Amazonite called to me. This stone supports the logical mind and intuitive senses to work together rather than battle against each other.
  • Tatcha Lip Mask & an Aesop hand lotion for that extra bit of self care.

Let me know if this has inspired you to refresh your nighstand.
